About The Position

Istra is a leading Algo-Trading research company specializing in developing and deploying High Frequency Trading strategies (HFT). We use state of the art technology and algorithms that are developed by our elite highly-skilled group of experienced researchers and developers in a challenging, pleasant, and rewarding work environment.

We are seeking knowledgeable, skilled, and talented system engineers to join our IT Operations team.

In this role you will design, implement, configure and manage complex environments - including our global trading infrastructure, low latency network, our on premise back testing grid and the firm's cloud based distributed compute cluster consisting of petabyte-scale storage.

You will be responsible for high availability, scalability & performance of various business applications, cyber security, and for enhancing automation of various infrastructure tasks, processes and monitoring tools.

We are seeking individuals who are curious, intellectually driven, practical, purposeful and result driven. He/she should have a deep technical understanding, excellent communications skills, and is service orientated. 

In this role, you will:

  • Design, implementation and maintenance of our complex HPC compute environment - on premise and in the cloud.
  • Design, implementation and maintenance of our complex petabyte scale Storage and DataBase systems
  • Debian packaging, deployment automation and configuration management
  • Linux tweaking, performance analysis and troubleshooting 
  • Building and implementation of tools & automation to improve our production and development environment

Requirements

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • At least 5 years experience as Linux System Administrator – Must
  • Working knowledge of DataBase technologies - Advantage
  • Working knowledge of Storage Systems & Distributed File systems – Advantage 
  • Familiar with at least one scripting language e.g. Bash, Python or Perl – Advantage
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as SMTP, SNMP, NIS, NFS, LDAP – Advantage
  • Knowledge Complex Grid Environment – Advantage
  • Working knowledge of Server Virtualization – Advantage 
  • Familiar with monitoring systems like Ganglia, Nagios and Zabbix - Advantage
  • Familiar with cloud solutions like AWS – Advantage
  • BSc Degree - Advantage
